[Letters From the Labyrinth] Official Brian Keene Newsletter

Hey there. I'm Brian Keene and this is the 110th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth -- a weekly newsletter for fans of my work.
Previous issues are archived here.
This was one of those weeks when work involved emails and phone calls rather than actual writing. That's always frustrating for me, personally, but it is also sometimes unavoidable. I'm looking forward to getting some actual writing done as soon as I send you folks this newsletter. Mary will be heading down to Baltimore for the day, so I'll have the house to myself and I plan to sit on my ass and get work done.
And that is pretty much doctor's orders.
Back when I got burned, they discovered that I also had very high blood pressure. I've been working on lowering that since I was discharged from the burn unit, and have been focused on it in particular for the last two months.
Mary and I were at a memorial service Friday night, and I wasn't feeling well, so we stopped at my doctor (who is open until 10pm) on the way home and the doc said, "Hey, let's check your blood pressure and compare it to the last two months because I don't think diet and exercise are doing it for you", and as of Saturday morning, I am now on Hydrochlorothiazide -- my very first ongoing prescription drug. I feel like such an adult!
The doc said I might be lightheaded the first few days of taking this, and that if it happened, I should sit down and take it easy.
So that's what I'm doing today -- sitting down and taking it easy... writing.
Last Friday, ten horror authors played an eerie game of exquisite corpse, stitching together a monstrous Franken-tale with a sci-fi twist!
That game is now free to read or listen to.

The malevolence beneath the forest floor grows in power. All it needs is blood.

THE DAMNED HIGHWAY: FEAR AND LOATHING IN ARKHAM — a novel by me and Nick Mamatas, first published in 2012 and available here, has been optioned for theatrical performance by playwright and director TJ Dawe (52 PICK-UP, TOOTHPASTE AND CIGARS) and actor and director Mark Meer (MASS EFFECT, BALDUR’S GATE).
I've been putting a TON of free content up on my YouTube Channel. Among the videos posted over the last week is a brand new reading of an EARTHWORM GODS-related short story called "Bad Fish", classic episodes of The Horror Show with Brian Keene and Defenders Dialogue, and much more.
What's that? You didn't know I have a YouTube Channel? Yes, I do. Click here and subscribe to it.

MICHAEL ALLEN ROSE - The Horror Show with Brian Keene - Episode 190
Author, musician and performance artist Michael Allen Rose sits down with Brian, Mary, and guest co-host Kelli Owen for a hilarious and revealing discussion about growing up Bizarro in North Dakota, his time with Chicago’s Second City conservatory program, bonding with his father through music, switching genres, and much more. A reminder that WHITE FIRE comes out October 31st from Deadite Press. Previously out of print and never before available as a stand-alone, this new edition of WHITE FIRE has been revised and expanded, and is considered the Author’s Preferred Version.
The paperback is available for pre-order now exclusively through Barnes & Noble (because Amazon can’t be arsed to fix the glitch on their site that makes it unavailable for pre-order). Click here to pre-order from B&N (and support the little guy).
From Grandmaster of Horror, Brian Keene, comes a pandemic tale of survival and terror. When a freak storm hits, time is the enemy as a government-created super virus gets loose and spreads through the quiet little town of Godfrey, Illinois. But the virus isn’t the only threat. There are mysterious forces at play and disease is just one instrument of fear.
That's it for this week. As always:
PATREON - Where I post new short stories, writing advice essays, two serialized ongoing novels, and behind-the-scenes stuff.
TWITTER - The only social media outlet I still use regularly.
BRIAN KEENE RADIO - Broadcasting for free 24/7
I'll see you back here next week!
