Hi, gang. I'm Brian Keene and this is the 112th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth -- a weekly newsletter for fans of my work.

While I don't normally attend the World Fantasy Convention (because despite having written fantasy novels like THE LOST LEVEL, RETURN TO THE LOST LEVEL, HOLE IN THE WORLD, the award-winning KING OF THE BASTARDS, THRONE OF THE BASTARDS, and the forthcoming CURSE OF THE BASTARDS, I think of myself as a horror writer, rather than a fantasy writer), Mary and I decided to go for a few hours Saturday night, because it was being held in Baltimore, and that's just a short drive for us.
I'm so glad we did. It was nice to catch up with old friends like Ellen Datlow, F. Paul Wilson, Tom Monteleone, Douglas E. Winter, Joe Monti, Christopher Golden, Maurice Broaddus, Jerry Gordon, John Edward Lawson, Linda Addison, Matt and Deena Warner, Hildy Silverman, Conner Goldsmith, and others. We had a lovely dinner with new writer Alex Norcross, and Apex Publishing's Jason Sizemore and Lesley Conner. But what was most impressive was Scott Edelman's Guest-of-Honor speech. The speech, which runs 32 minutes, contains a LOT of truth relevant to all genres of speculative fiction, and where we've been and where we are going. Kudos to Scott for dropping some absolute truth bombs.
The entire speech has been uploaded to YouTube. You can watch it here.
Scott also had some pages of original Marvel Comics artwork on display in the art show. Mary took this picture of me, with what was a formative panel for 7-year old Brian (from Captain Marvel #50 -- my first introduction to Tony Stark, aka Iron Man).

WHITE FIRE is now available in paperback and for Kindle!
From Grandmaster of Horror, Brian Keene, comes a pandemic tale of survival and terror.
When a freak storm hits, time is the enemy as a government-created super virus gets loose and spreads through the quiet little town of Godfrey, Illinois. But the virus isnāt the only threat. There are mysterious forces at play and disease is just one instrument of fear.
Previously out of print and never before available as a stand-alone, this new edition of WHITE FIRE has been revised and expanded, and is considered the Authorās Preferred Version.

SILVERWOOD: THE DOOR is the new series by showrunner and writer Brian Keene and writers Richard Chizmar, Stephen Kozeniewski, and the Sisters of Slaughter ā available exclusively on Serial Box.
