[Letters From the Labyrinth] Official Brian Keene Newsletter

Hello again. I'm Brian Keene and this is the 116th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth -- a weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Previous issues are archived here.
I'm trying something different this week and not including images in the newsletter. The last few issues have gotten caught up in a lot of people's spam folders, and I want to see if taking out the images resolves that.
December is always my month to push for productivity. The Horror Show goes into Best Of mode, when we play highlights from the year that listeners may have missed. Not recording a new show for four weeks really frees up my time -- and that time is used to write.
Last summer's accident put me so far behind on things, though, and I'm finding it impossible to get caught up. With this in mind, that's why there's no heartfelt personal essay opening this week's issue. There's just this brief note. And as soon as I hit send, I'm going back to work on edits -- proofreading the galleys for the Apex Publications' paperback edition of HOLE IN THE WORLD, final draft edits for CURSE OF THE BASTARDS. And while finishing both of those today will get them done and off my list, they don't really involve writing.
It's a frustrating time.
But I did get some good news...
On Friday, I was honored to learn that I am being presented with a Lifetime Achievement Award from the Indie Horror Book Awards (IHBA), whose members are composed of book reviewers and readers.
I was also pleased to learn that in addition to the Lifetime Achievement Award, CLICKERS FOREVER (which I edited) won for Best Splatterpunk, and WELCOME TO THE SHOW (which includes what I feel is one of my best short stories of the last decade) won for Best Anthology.
My deepest thanks and humble appreciation to all of the judges. My thanks as well to the roster of authors who contributed to CLICKERS FOREVER and the editors of WELCOME TO THE SHOW.
The first chapter of SUBMERGED: The Labyrinth, Book 2 is now live on Patreon. This is not a spoiler since you find out in the very first sentence, but for those of you who’ve asked me over the years, “What happened to Sarah and Henry and Gail after the end of DELUGE: EARTHWORM GODS II?” You find out in this book — because this book is a direct sequel.
Access to SUBMERGED, The Labyrinth, Book 2 costs just $1 per month. That same dollar gives you full access to THE SEVEN, The Labyrinth, Book 1. So no worries if you haven’t read the first book yet. Subscribe today, and you can read them both, along with all the other cool content available exclusively on Patreon. CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP.
A few weeks ago, we signed Blu-Ray and DVD combo packs for I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE DOOMSDAY at Lancaster’s Park City Mall and I told you that was the last signing of 2018. If you missed that signing, here’s a 40-second video from it.
Well, as it turns out, we’ve got one more signing in us for 2018. On Saturday, December 15th, join Mike Lombardo and I from noon until 3pm at The Comic Store 28 McGovern Ave. Station Square, Lancaster PA 17602. We’ll be signing copies of I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE DOOMSDAY, THE COMPLEX, WHITE FIRE, THE LOST LEVEL, RETURN TO THE LOST LEVEL and more.
Then, in January, I’m heading to Oregon for Bizarrocon 11, which takes place January 10th through the 13th at McMenamins Edgefield 2126 S.W. Halsey St. Troutdale, OR 97060. All of my paperbacks published by Deadite Press will be available for sale there (the best day to get me to sign them is on Saturday). I *may* also host a double feature of THE NAUGHTY LIST and I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE DOOMSDAY, schedule permitting. To register for Bizarrocon 11, click here.
Next week will bring the season finale of SILVERWOOD: THE DOOR -- the new series by showrunner and writer Brian Keene (that's me) and writers Richard Chizmar, Stephen Kozeniewski, and the Sisters of Slaughter — available exclusively on Serial Box.
Episode 9 – ‘Burial Ground’ – by Richard Chizmar is available now. Click here to start listening or reading the series.
Many of you have been asking when we'll be able to talk about Season Two. I'm told I may have some information for you by the next newsletter.
