[Letters From the Labyrinth] Official Brian Keene Newsletter 126

Hi gang. I'm Brian Keene, and this is the 126th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth -- a weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Previous issues are archived here.
People have been asking recently if there are any new movies on the horizon. I thought this week I'd give you a rundown on some things that are happening. Before we do that, however, here's a recap for new readers:
MOVIES BASED ON MY NOVELS OR SHORT STORIES:
GHOUL: DVD – Soundtrack
THE NAUGHTY LIST: Watch For Free
FAST ZOMBIES SUCK: Watch For Free
THE TIES THAT BIND: Watch For Free
MOVIES FEATURING ME AS AN ACTOR OR PRODUCER:
I’M DREAMING OF A WHITE DOOMSDAY: DVD and Blu-Ray
DEMONSTRATION OF THE DEAD: Watch For Free
SUBURBAN HOLOCAUST: DVD
ZOMBIE MANIA: The DVD is out of print. It still airs on the Starz Network.
FEAR FILES: ZOMBIES: DVD
THE STALL: DVD
Now, here is a list of movies that are in development, along with any updates I can share:
DARK HOLLOW - Director Paul Campion has the option on this. An excellent screenplay exists. Unfortunately, we have so far been unable to get it green-lit. At times, various actors have been attached at times for the roles of Nelson LeHorn, Patricia LeHorn, and Hylinus. Various FX people have also been attached at times. I am confident in Paul's vision for the film. We just need a studio that will let him make it.
KILL WHITEY - Paul also holds the option on this.
URBAN GOTHIC - Sonny Mahal has the option on this. Heath Amodio is attached as a producer. There has been a lot of activity recently behind the scenes, including expressed interest from a currently very popular horror director, and a conference call earlier this week. Sonny's final script is about two weeks away from being completed.
THE CAGE - Several versions of a screenplay exist. I'm considering possibly producing it myself.
MASTERWORK - That's the working title of Mike Lombardo's next feature length film (the title will probably change). I'm absolutely going to produce.
Now, as always, just because something is under option doesn't mean it's going to get filmed. So don't get excited. But that's where things stand.
I’ll be a guest at White Rose Comic Con taking place March 22nd through the 24th at York Fairgrounds 334 Carlisle Avenue Arena Building, York, PA 17404. I’ll have books and comics on hand for sale. You can also bring books and comics from home for me to sign. As always, I never charge for autographs or pictures.
Other guests include Jim Steranko, Mary SanGiovanni, Jim Krut, Kelli Owen, Stephen Kozeniewski, Lance Footer, Robert Ford, Wesley Southard, and Somer Canon.
An update from Cemetery Dance on the status of END OF THE ROAD:
“END OF THE ROAD was one of the next books to go to the printer that closed last summer, so it’s gotten shuffled around. Now that we’re caught up on the books that WERE at the printer when they went out of business, and SLEEPING BEAUTIES (which was the biggest project rolling at that printer when they closed their doors unexpectedly) is almost done, END OF THE ROAD should be sent very soon!”

Recording that interview with J.M. DeMatteis was definitely a career highlight for me. I'm hard pressed to think of another author, other than possibly Stephen King, who had a bigger impact on my development during my teenage years than J.M. DeMatteis. He had a big impact on Chris's development, too.
It may sound like 51-year old Brian Keene and 51-year old Christopher Golden interviewing him, but if you listen closely, you can hear the 14-year old versions of ourselves.
You may have noticed that I've been posting episodes of The Horror Show with Brian Keene and Defenders Dialogue on my YouTube channel.
But I've also started posting episodes of Mary SanGiovanni's Cosmic Shenanigans. Each week, she takes an academic view of cosmic horror beyond the works of H.P. Lovecraft. The first six episodes are now available for free and include discussions of Guy de Maupassant's "The Horla", Karl Edward Wagner's "Sticks", Robert W. Chambers's "The King in Yellow", the Silent Hill video game franchise, and much more.
Click here to go directly to the playlist. I'll be adding more throughout the week.
And speaking of Mary, here's a reminder about this, taking place next week. She'll be doing a live reading and a Q&A.

I posted this on twitter yesterday, and it got a lot of play. Thought I'd repost it here for those of you who aren't on Twitter.
