[Letters From the Labyrinth] 179 Brian Keene

Hi gang. I'm Brian Keene and and this is the 179th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth, a weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Previous issues are archived here.
I hope all of you are doing as well as you can, all things considered. I've talked to friends this week who are isolated at home by themselves, and friends who are isolated at home with a multitude of people. I've also talked to friends who are still required to be out in public -- a friend who works in a factory deemed an essential business. A friend who is a paramedic. Everyone is pensive. About the virus. About their loved ones. About their jobs. About the financial fallout. About the aftermath. About the future.
I am, too.
Last night, I broadcast live for three hours on Brian Keene Radio. Folks seemed to enjoy it. A lot of listeners. Some folks asked questions via Twitter, but mostly, people just listened. It felt good to talk. Felt good to be connected once again to a larger community, even if it was through the internet. But it was enough of a success and enough of a boost to my own mental well being that I think we'll make this a semi-regular thing a few evenings per week. Keep an eye on my Twitter feed, and I'll announce the next one later this week.
Today I've got to finish up some Patreon stuff, and this evening I have to conduct two interviews for The Horror Show, so I'll have to keep this short. I hope to get outside and go hiking, as well. If you've been following along with the daily journal entries on my Blog (and if you haven't here they are) then you know that my youngest son and I have been doing a lot of hiking. Yesterday was rainy and foggy, so I had to opt for the exercise machine instead, which was far less fun and satisfying.

Currently Reading: THE LIVING DEAD by George Romero and Daniel Kraus
Currently Watching: TWIN PEAKS season 3
I'd seen the first two seasons of TWIN PEAKS probably half a dozen times, but had only watched the third season one time through. On the re-watch, I still think it's the best of the series, and one of the best, most effective horror programs ever on television. Never has cosmic horror and surrealism (with just a dash of extreme horror) been so deftly melded together, at least not in a visual medium.

I was proud to appear recently on the Ladies of the Fright podcast. Here is their episode description: “In this down-to-earth conversation with one of horror's greatest living legends, we discuss the persistence of imposter syndrome, the ever-changing horror landscape, and why it's important to write a bunch of terrible shit. There are plenty of laughs (and maybe a couple dirty jokes) and you're in for a real treat.” Click here to listen.

For the first time ever, EARTHWORM GODS is available in audiobook, narrated by Scott Weinberg!
Currently available via Audible (the Apple edition is forthcoming).
And I've got a free book for you all, as well.
MIDNIGHT RITUALS is an anthology featuring myself, Mary SanGiovanni, Robert Swartwood, John Boden, Kelli Owen, Stephen Kozeniewski, Wesley Southard, and Robert Ford.
It was originally published as an extremely limited edition print chapbook. We are now offering it as a free e-book to help distract everyone from the real-world horrors taking place right now.
CLICK HERE to download it as either an e-pub or mobi file (acceptable for all e-readers).

This newsletter goes out to thousands of people for free, but I have to pay to have it produced and sent. If you fancy buying me a coffee or a beer, click this link. No pressure, and no biggie if you don't want to. I'm happy you're here, regardless.
