Letters From the Labyrinth 185
Hi. I'm Brian Keene and this is the 186th issue of Letters From the Labyrinth, a weekly newsletter for fans of my work. Previous issues are archived here.
Last week I talked here about Patreon, and asked for your feedback, and I'm really grateful to all of you that responded. I didn't get to answer everyone, but I did read all of the emails and Tweets.
To summarize what i said last week (in case you missed it), I mentioned that what I've been considering is doing away with the different donation tiers and just charging one flat monthly fee of $5 or $10, and then in exchange for that monthly fee, I'd offer content DAILY.
Your responses were overwhelmingly in favor of this. So, beginning June 1, I'll be changing the structure of my Patreon, and charging a flat monthly fee of $5. In exchange for that monthly $5, I'll be posting DAILY content. Some days it will be a short story. Some days it will be a serial chapter. Some days it will be an essay. Some days it will be a behind the scenes. But, in a nutshell, you'll be paying $5 a month for an average of 30 new pieces of content each month.
I'll also be posting a menu on my website that will make it a lot easier to read the serial novels in order.
And look, I know that a lot of folks are strapped financially right now. I totally understand that, and I get that the upgraded tier won't suit everyone. If you need to cancel, I understand. If you'd like to continue to support with $1 or $2 per month, I appreciate that, as well. Same for you folks currently at the $10 tier.
So, again, to clarify, beginning June 1, I'll be doing away with tiers and begin charging a flat $5 monthly fee, in exchange for which I will post content DAILY.
And if you go to the Patreon page, you'll notice that I've added a goal. When we hit it, I will immediately begin posting serialized chapters of THE FALL - the final novel in THE RISING series. (We are already at 51% of the goal...)

I also mentioned in last week's newsletter that Mary and I would soon be moving in to new offices, and that the Brian Keene Radio Network would also be getting a new office and recording studio. We began that process yesterday, and I am very sore and tired. And there is still a lot of things to move and set up. I suspect it will take several weeks of work, but I'll post a video when everything is set up and completed.

Speaking of the Brian Keene Radio Network, I am very pleased to announce that two shows from the Brian Keene Radio Network are nominated for a 2019 This Is Horror Award. The Horror Show with Brian Keene is a nominee in the Non-Fiction Podcast of the Year category (a category for which it has won before), and Cosmic Shenanigans is also a first-time nominee in the same category.
If you are so inclined to vote for either show, we’ll be grateful, of course. Click here for the ballot and how to vote.
I should also mention that Brian Keene Radio has been airing classic episodes of Three Guys With Beards and John Urbancik's Inkstains, in addition to our regular mix of music and episodes of The Horror Show with Brian Keene, Cosmic Shenanigans, Grindcast, and Defenders Dialogue.
We didn't post a new episode of Defenders Dialogue this week, because Chris Golden and I needed a break,. It will return next week. But there is a new episode of The Horror Show with Brian Keene available. Erin Louis joins the show to discuss her new book taking risks, questioning everything, and her new book EXPOSE YOURSELF. Plus -- the horror section may be returning to Barnes and Noble, good news for CV Hunt, and Marty Pasko in remembrance. Listen for free on iTunes – Spotify – Libsyn – iHeartRadio – Stitcher - YouTube

The Coronavirus Diaries continue over on my Blog. I got political this week (something which I rarely do). There were also guest essays from John Urbancik, Jim Cobb, John Boden, Christine Morgan, and Alex Norcross.

And honestly, that's it. No viewing or reading or listening recommendations this week, I'm afraid. I've been too busy to even glance at the TV or read, and whatever is on in the background is pretty much just ambient sound to me (unless my 12-year old makes a comment about it). Been burning the candle at both ends this past week, I'm afraid, and will be doing so again this coming week.
Just know that I appreciate all of you and your continued support.
See you back here next Sunday.
