The image of three American sailors belting Beastie Boys across the Mediterranean makes me think the local fishermen in València probably still tell stories about it.
I didn't catch on to The Beastie Boys until that first MTV video but have been a fan ever since. Still friends with my high school buddies (Brad, Kevin, Eric and Brian). In fact, saw them all in December 2025. Wondering who will be the first of us to go. 😏 They're all 65 and I'm 64.
I'm another of those who completely lost their minds over Licensed To Ill for a while in the mid 80s. Listened to it incessantly. It weirdly fit in somehow with all the punk rock I was listening to at the time. Then a little later on got to seem them on that tour they did with Run-DMC.
Yeah, at some point after Licensed blew up, I found a copy of that original EP they did that had a different band lineup and a hardcore punk sound. I loved it when they started incorporating some of those sounds back into their music in the 90s. Such a truly creative group that evolved in ways that defied expectations.
Good shit, man. I was grateful to have caught one of their last performances and they slaughtered the place. It's still amazing to me how many people forget or never knew they were first a hardcore punk band.

;-)
So cool to see that Navy & Beastie Boy Brotherhood stand the test of time.

The Beastie Boys absolutely defined the late '80s and early '90s for me.
Love those photos. Also your work plan makes me feel like a slacker
It makes me feel tired. ;-)

I can absolutely see that. And remember, they started as a punk band, so the vibe was always there.

Congrats on the noms, man.
