I look forward to letters…every week. They are as good as your books and your books are off the hook!

As a fellow animal lover and empath, your news also hurt me. I can understand how it could ruin a good morning.

But I also have a question: do you have any plans to release Pressure on audiobook?

At some point yes. Currently it is the only one of my books I don’t 100% own the rights to so I have to wait for that to run its course.

Thank you for giving the baby the mercy it needed. That takes so much courage. And somewhere I have missed the info on the zine and need to catch up. Is it to late?

Too late for the first issue, but you can get in for the second issue here: https://www.briankeene.com/zine

Glad you got to spend time with your family, bro. That's important stuff, as we get older.

The newsletter was great fun to read, so thanks again! At 55, this was my first 'zine. As for signing, you can save your wrist and just sign mine, lol!

Happy Mother's Day to Mary and all the Moms here!

Brian, thanks for the update on your father. You are a good son, good father and all around great guy. It was great to see Bubbles as I miss seeing the cats. Thank you for putting that poor gosling out of its misery and for caring about the feral cat colony you discovered. So many people just walk away, at least you always try to help. The world needs more Brian clones! Tell Mary and your ex Happy Mother's Day from me! Take care.

The thinking mind told you what was right but the feeling heart was hurt anyway. I’m interested in your take on Mindcrime III. I think the first was brilliant but the second wasn’t and seemed even worse by comparison. I haven’t heard III yet.

I also recently re-read THE WAR OF THE WORLDS, 40+ years after reading it as a teen, and was surprised at how readable and well-crafted it is (except for his frequent repetition of the word "tumult.") I'd always misremembered Wells more as a writer of ideas than as a stylist, yet this most recent reading I found his use of language more nuanced than I was expecting, even audacious considering how much he gives away in the opening paragraph. Has there ever been a more apt description of an alien race as being "vast and cool and unsympathetic?" I've since begun re-reading THE INVISIBLE MAN and find the same deft use of language above and beyond service to the plot. Like a whole new reading experience.

Warmed my heart to read about the time spent with your dad. I know you cherish those moments ❤️

I enjoyed Legion 2010. It’s like a Graphic Novel as a movie. The critics were overly harsh.

This did my heart good, man. My parents are likewise aging, likewise tougher than nails. Fiercely independent. As their children, we have our obligations to them, and applause to you for sacrificing your back for the cause. My Pop likewise fought in the 'Nam, so I felt this thing all the way through, even with our own cats huddled at our ankles this morning while I wrote my own newsletter.

You echoed everything I was told about AuthorCon VII that I had in convo yesterday with my bud, Dave Simms, who I was lucky to table beside at Frightreads Halfway 2 Halloween. He gave me the 411, and I hope I can get locked in.

Cheers, Brian.
