Weston Ochse passed away yesterday, around 2pm Arizona time. His health had been declining for the last few years now, dating back to his last deployment to the desert as a civilian contractor. (Most of you will only know Wes as an author, or perhaps you knew he was a veteran but what you didn’t know is he was pretty much a real life Jack Bauer. I know many of the things he got up to, even in his later years, but I will take those things to my grave, and he trusted me with them because he knew I would treat them as such. Also, I am 99.9% certain he once called me from a secured line inside Area 51. And no, I’m not joking).
I’m so sorry to hear of Wes’ passing. I remember him as cool, friendly, and a good writer. Words never say enough, and that’s why the first drink is always to the departed. ❤️🍀🥃Love, luck, and Slainte!
Very sorry to hear of Weston's passing and my sincerest condolences to you and Mary. But was very happy to hear that Jesus' family is sharing his ashes with you to keep at the new store. I am sure he will be happy to be close to you again :) I'll follow your store on Facebook and I think it's great that people want to donate books to the store. Wishing you much luck with the new business and an early Happy Thanksgiving to you, Mary and your kids/families. Same holiday wishes to those here as well.
First of all, best wishes for your plans with the bookstore, Brian and Mary. It's a brave step to take, and I wish you all the best.
Secondly, my sincere condolences on losing Wes. I did not know him, but today I've seen such an outpouring of love for the man. You know what? It made me think yet again how short life is and how gutting it is to see the constant fights on social media. People need to seriously pause and think about what's important in life.🖤
I wish I could get to the new store when it goes live, but I'm UK. It sounds like a wonderful endeavour, best of luck. And the tribute to JF Gonzalez sounds perfect.
Wes was such a wonderful presence and part of the community.
I'm so sorry for your loss. My thoughts are with Yvonne and all of his IRL friends x
I’ll never forget finally meting Wes & Von at World Horror 2010, Wes throwing shapes on the dance floor at Brighton Pier. Gutted!
